To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don't use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

If you know how Northern European X-Mas trees are decorated and care for that look, this thin tinsel will be exactly what you want. The reviewers who complain about it are clearly not looking for this. The tinsel sold at most stores is too thick and does not give this delicate effect. You do not decorate strand by strand, you use little bunches of it to drape over the branches. Takes no time, sweep up the ones that fall, replace on trees. The tacky stuff that passes for tinsel, thick ropes or garlands is not what this is. If you are not familiar with the style, do not order it. It is very fine. Once upon a time it was made of lead...(before we knew...). It will amplify the effect of your lights and give the tree a pretty shimmer. It is not cheap agreed, but it is a must for some and hard to find. If your tree is very big you will need two boxes. One box covers a medium tree.

Well I was going to get these because I have been looking for them for ages., Only problem they are way to thin and not a wide or heavy as the icicles in the past., A bit disappointed or should I say very disappointed. My family used to carefully lay a few strands on each branch to get the effect that we wanted. These new ones are so fine, you will get tired and throw the whole box at your tree., I would not order them again unless they say New and Improved.

I live in a vintage 50's building, so for a retro Christmas, these are a must have!

I looked everywhere local for Icicles, hardly anyone sells them anymore. But to me, they just scream, Hello 40's, 50's or 60's Christmas.

The only note I will add here, my tree is 6'... and it is sparse (on purpose, like trees used to be) it took two packs of these to make it look right, so you might consider ordering two when you order... or you will get the one back and then have to go back and order a second one.

The photo is the tree with two packs... I thought one would be enough, but it looked a little sad until I got my second pack.

The strands are very, very thin and short. Amazon should make it so that the person returning the item has the option of paying for the postage themselves. I only got a $0.43 refund!!!!!!!!!! Not worth it at all.

The gold color is very pretty. However, each strand is hair thin. Even though it is not the thick strand I am used to, it does look nice on the tree. I have a 7.5 feet tree and I used two boxes for a fuller look but you can probably get away with just one box if carefully placed.

I saw other reviews complaining about the amount of tinsel in one box. Yeah, it doesn't look like much. However, it more than sufficiently covered our 5-6 foot x-mas tree. I even had a significant amount left over.

They are thin, yes, but that's how tinsel IS. The difference between this and the other brand that is sold (Bright Star??) is that the other one comes out of the box all wrinkled and awful-looking. This brand of tinsel was nice and smooth and hangs on the tree very well. It's quite expensive (tinsel just a couple of years ago was 99 cents/box at the hardware store), but that's because almost nobody makes it anymore. Hence the premium price.

I will definitely buy it again next year if they are still making it!

I was so impressed and fell in love with this gold tinsel. In all my life, I've never seen gold tinsel for the tree. I've only seen silver cheap stringy tinsel. This gold tinsel was high quality and so sparkly. I got lots of compliments on it when people would visit. I will definitely buy these again.

In my opinion, this tinsel is simply too thin and had I seen this package in-person, I would not have paid more than $2.99. Notwithstanding, one package did cover our tree, even with the 20% falling to the floor since it is impossibility thin to handle. I wouldn't buy it again, tough I don't necessarily regret purchasing it.
